Community Guidelines
Last updated: October 4, 2026
WentSwell works when people show up as themselves and treat each other well. These guidelines cover everything on WentSwell: profiles, events, chats, photos, and the meetups themselves. They go hand in hand with our Terms of Service.
Be good company
Be friendly, be on time, and be decent to everyone in your group, including the people you don’t click with. Disagreeing is fine. Insults, put-downs, and ganging up on someone are not.
No harassment
Don’t threaten, stalk, bully, or intimidate anyone. If someone says no or stops replying, let it go, on WentSwell and off it. Don’t share someone else’s private information or photos without their permission.
No hate
Don’t attack or demean people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or serious illness. That includes slurs, hate symbols, and jokes that do the same thing.
No sexual content
No nudity, sexual content, or sexual advances in profiles, events, chats, or albums. WentSwell is not a dating or hookup app, and an event can’t be a cover for one. Anything that sexualizes a minor is removed, the account is banned, and we report it as the law requires.
Nothing illegal
Don’t use WentSwell to plan, promote, or do anything illegal, like selling drugs or weapons, violence, or theft. Trivia at a brewery is great. Buying drinks for someone under 21 is not.
No spam or selling
WentSwell is for doing things together, not for selling. No ads, sales pitches, recruiting for a business, fundraising, or requests for money. Don’t create events to bring customers to a business or to collect people’s contact details, and don’t send invitations to people who wouldn’t want them.
Be real
- 18 and over. You have to be 18 or older to use WentSwell.
- You, and only you. Use your real name and real photos of yourself. One account per person. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
- Real plans. Only post events you intend to host, at the real time and place. If plans change, update or cancel the event as early as you can. If you joined and can’t make it, leave the event so someone else can have the spot.
- Your photos. Post photos you took or have the right to share, and ask before posting photos of other people.
Meet safely
Meet in public places, tell a friend where you’re going, and get yourself there and home. Our safety tips have more.
When someone breaks the rules
WentSwell has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior.
- Report it. You can report any profile, event, chat message, or album photo from its menu in the app. The person you report is never told who reported them.
- We review every report within 24 hours. Depending on what happened, we remove the content, hide or cancel the event, or ban the account.
- Block anyone, any time. Blocking takes effect right away. You stop seeing each other’s profiles, events, and messages, and you’re both removed from any event you share.
- Bans are immediate. A banned person is signed out on every device, their upcoming events are cancelled, and they’re removed from events they joined. They can’t make a new account.
- Serious harm. For threats, violence, or anything involving a minor, we may share information with law enforcement.
We also screen public events and profiles with automated tools before they go up, and people on our team review what gets flagged. No screening catches everything, which is why reports matter.
If your content was removed or your account was suspended and you think we made a mistake, email support@wentswell.com and tell us what happened. A person will look at it again.
