Privacy Policy

Wentswell is operated by WS Tech LLC ("Wentswell," "we," "us"), 7533 Center View Court, STE R, West Jordan, Utah 84084, USA. This policy describes what information we collect through the Wentswell mobile app and wentswell.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@wentswell.com.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (managed by our sign-in provider). You may optionally add a phone number, profile photo, and other profile details.

Event information. Events you create or join, including titles, descriptions, dates, locations, photos, and messages you send in event chats.

Location information. If you grant permission, we use your device location to show nearby events and to let you place events on a map. You can choose an approximate location or decline location access; some features may not work without it.

Contacts you choose to invite. If you host a private event and choose to invite people from your phone's contacts, the app uploads only the phone numbers of the specific contacts you select — never your full address book. Numbers are normalized to a standard format and used solely to (a) check whether that person already has a Wentswell account and (b) send them your invitation. We store the invited number with the invitation record so the invitee can be connected to your event if they later join Wentswell. We do not use invited numbers for marketing, and we do not sell or share them.

Device and usage information. Basic device information, app version, and diagnostic logs used to operate and debug the service. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver them.

How we use information

  • Provide the service: create and display events, match participants, deliver chats, invitations, and notifications.
  • Send SMS invitations you initiate (see "Text messaging" below).
  • Keep the service safe: prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, comply with law.
  • Improve the service: understand feature usage and fix problems.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.

Text messaging (SMS)

When a Wentswell host invites a phone number that isn't yet registered, that number receives a single text message invitation from Wentswell containing the host's invitation and a link to the event. Message frequency is one message per invitation — there are no recurring or marketing messages. Message and data rates may apply.

Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Wentswell message; you will be unsubscribed and will not receive further texts from us. Reply HELP for help, or contact whuff@wentswell.com.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding the service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver messages.

How we share information

We share information only with:

  • Other users, as part of the service. Your profile and event details are visible to participants consistent with the event's privacy settings.
  • Service providers that host and operate the service on our behalf (cloud hosting, authentication, message delivery). They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Wentswell or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. Invitation records for numbers that never join are retained only as long as needed to honor the invitation, then deleted. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting whuff@wentswell.com; we will delete it except where we must retain it for legal reasons.

Your choices and rights

  • Contacts, location, notifications permissions can be changed anytime in iOS Settings.
  • SMS: reply STOP to opt out.
  • Access, correction, deletion: email whuff@wentswell.com and we will honor your request within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live (including California), you may have additional statutory rights; we extend the rights above to all users regardless of location.

Children

Wentswell is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update this page and revise the effective date, and where appropriate notify you in the app.
